L ù surname

The ancestors of the Lu family, who migrated to Hongdong, Hongdong, and Zhaocheng counties during the Ming Dynasty, were people from Pingyang Prefecture, Hongdong County, and Zhaocheng County. At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, they were ordered to relocate to other places in Hongdong, and by the end of the Qing Dynasty, their descendants were distributed in Henan, Shandong, Hebei, Shaanxi, Gansu, Anhui, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hunan, Liaoning, Shanxi, and other places.

The earliest record of the surname Lu can be found in the Eastern Han Dynasty's "Customs and Customs: Surnames" section.

There are two main sources of surnames:

① Originating from using the name of the town as a surname. According to the "General Principles of Customs", during the Zhou Dynasty, the officials of the State of Wei ate their fiefdom in Wulu, which was located in the northeast of Puyang County, Henan Province. Their descendants took the fiefdom name Lu as their surname.

② Originating from the Xianbei people changing their surnames during the Northern and Southern Dynasties. According to the "Annals of the Official Family" in the Book of Wei, the Northern Wei Dynasty had a three character surname, Aluhuan, which was changed to Lu after Emperor Xiaowen of Wei entered the Central Plains.

[Celebrities] The Dictionary of Chinese Names includes 5 cases of Lu's family, and the Dictionary of Chinese Names in Past Dynasties includes 8 cases. The historical figure with the surname Lu in the Zhou Dynasty had Lu Maoshou, who once persuaded King Kuai of Yan to abdicate the throne to his son; In the Han Dynasty, there were Lu Pi Weng and Lu Qi, the prefect of Ba County; During the Northern and Southern Dynasties, there was Lu Sheng, a native of the Cheng family, who served as the governor of Jinan during the Northern Wei Dynasty; During the Ming Dynasty, Lu Jiuzheng, a native of Dingxing, served as a judge in Zezhou; During the Qing Dynasty, Lu Chuanlin, a native of Dingxing, served as the Governor General of Sichuan.

According to the seventh national census, there are 6047 people surnamed Lu in Shanxi Province, 690 in Linfen City, and 19 in Hongdong County.

The ancestral shrine of the Lu surname is enshrined in the second altar of the Ancestral Hall on the Great Huai Tree.

Migration: The ancestor of the Lu family in Cao County, named Jinzhong, migrated from Hongdong, Shanxi to Lujinzhong Village in Cao County during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty; The ancestor of the Lu family in Yun County moved from Hongdong, Shanxi to Tangfang Village, Wangjing Township, Yun County in the early Ming Dynasty.

The ancestor of the Lu family in Jining moved from Hongdong County, Shanxi Province to Lujia Village, Qufu, Shandong Province in the early Ming Dynasty; The ancestor of the Lushan Lushan family moved from Hongdong, Shanxi to Lutuan, Boshan District, Shandong Province in the second year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty.
