Ji (j í) surname
Inheriting from the Yellow Emperor, the ancestors were Bo Shu and Yin Jifu. It is the 202nd surname in contemporary China. The ancestors of the Ji family, who migrated from Pingyang Prefecture, Hongdong County, and Zhaocheng County during the Ming Dynasty, were descendants of the Hongdong locust tree. In the early Ming Dynasty, they were ordered to move to other places, and by the end of the Qing Dynasty, their descendants were distributed in Henan, Shandong, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Shaanxi, Gansu, Anhui, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hunan, Liaoning, Shanxi, and other places.
The earliest record of the surname Ji can be found in the Zhou Dynasty's "Shiben".
There are four main sources of surnames: ① There was a lucky surname a long time ago. According to the "Age of Emperors", Hou Yi learned archery from Ji Fu, who was Hou Yi's master, indicating that the surname Ji existed a long time ago.
② Originating from the Ji surname. According to the "Genealogy Table of Prime Ministers" in the New Book of Tang, it is said that in ancient times, there were many descendants of the Yellow Emperor, among whom fourteen were given twelve surnames. Huangdi had a son named Boshu, who was enfeoffed in Southern Yan and given the surname Nuji. Later, the abbreviation removed the female radical and became the surname Ji.
③ Originating from after Jiyi. According to the "Genealogy of Surnames", Jiyi was the name of an ancient emperor, and among the descendants of the Jiyi clan, there was a surname Ji.
④ Originating from the Ji surname. According to the "Yuanhe Surname Compilation", during the reign of King Xuan of Zhou, there was a minister named Yin Jifu, whose surname was Xi and name was Jia, and whose courtesy name was Bojifu. He was appointed as Yin in the Zhou Dynasty. Yin Jifu was a talented individual in both civil and military fields. He once led a large army to conquer the nomadic people of Xiaoyu, all the way to their base in Taiyuan. He also conquered the Jianghuai region and conquered Xurong, making great contributions to the revival of King Xuan of Zhou. His descendants took his name as their surname and became known as Ji.
The counties with the surname Ji mainly include Fengyi County and Luoyang. Fengyi Commandery: In the first year of Emperor Wu of Han's Taichu reign (104 BC), Zuo Fengyi was established as one of the "Three Assistants". During the Three Kingdoms period of Wei (3rd century AD), Zuo Fengyi was renamed Fengyi Commandery. Equivalent to the area south of Hancheng, east of Baishui, and north of Weihe River in present-day Shaanxi Province.
The main hall names of the Ji surname are Chunxiao Hall. Later, the court appointed him as a county official for ten thousand years. In just one month, the entire county was filled with kindness, filial piety, and great moral character The main types of hall couplets with the surname Ji include: Huici Jiulao (auspicious day for friendship); Ten talents of the train (Jizhongfu). Caigao Dali (Jizhongfu); Huilie Xiangshan (auspicious day). Filial Piety Drum (Jiyu Fen); Su Zheng stepped onto the stage (Ji Xu).
