Kui Xing Tower
The Kuixing Tower is a tower‑shaped structure. According to the Book of Han, Kuixing was a deity in ancient mythology who presided over literary fortune. The Kuixing Tower served as a sacred shrine in old villages, where scholars would pay homage to Kuixing in hopes of success in the imperial examinations. The famous phrase “Kuixing bestows the top scholar” originates from this tradition. Adjacent to the Kuixing Tower stands the Big Dipper, whose first four stars are known as the “Xuanji,” also referred to as the “Kui.” Because these four stars are arranged in the shape of the Chinese character for “dipper,” they are also called the “Doukui.”
