Root Character Shadow WallHongtong Dahuaishu

The shadow wall, commonly known as the “zhao bi,” is a frequent feature in traditional Chinese architecture; it can be found in typical courtyard houses and in the courtyards of affluent families. The “Genzi Shadow Wall” serves as the landmark structure of the Great Locust Tree Scenic Area. Unlike ordinary flat‑panel designs, it boasts a distinctive eight‑character‑shaped form. Its carvings are exquisitely crafted, all depicting auspicious folk motifs.
