Hongya Ancient Cave
The name “Hongtong” is derived from “Hongya” to the south of the city and “Gudong” to the north. The eight large characters—“Hongya Cliff Walls” and “Gudong Cloud‑Connecting”—were calligraphed by the renowned master Dong Shouping. “Hongya Gudong” covers an area of 800 square meters, measuring 40 meters from north to south, 20 meters from east to west, with a cliff face 16 meters high, a cave entrance 4 meters high and 2.5 meters wide; inside, the passage winds and twists in a labyrinthine fashion.
