A Sacred Offering on Qingming Day in the Year of Bingwu to the Ancestral Migrants of the Ancient Great Locust Tree
The year of the Common Era 2026 year April 5 Day, year at Bingwu As the Qingming Festival approaches, we, the descendants of those who migrated from the Great Locust Tree, with hearts full of devotion, solemnly offer our rites to the ancient ancestors who once left that venerable tree. We present the grand sacrifice and perform the eight‑row dance; the locust‑tree lineage, filled with heartfelt reverence, respectfully extols the merits of our forebears and prays for the enduring peace and prosperity of China. The inscription reads:
The venerable ancient locust tree, the ancestral root of myriad surnames. Its illustrious achievements shine forth, revered throughout the nine realms. In the waning years of the Yuan dynasty, war-torn flames blazed across the Central Plains; yet in the mountains and rivers of the Three Jin, the people lived in peace and prosperity. During the Hongwu era, an imperial edict summoned all the peoples beneath the shade of the locust; through migration and land reclamation, their descendants spread far and wide to every corner of the realm. ( Zou ) . The people were forcibly relocated with great fervor. History Traces that reveal the spirit of the nation; a bold pioneering spirit that uplifts the soul of China. Therefore The descendants of Kyūshū, year after year return to their ancestral roots; when they gaze upon the Jieshi Stele, tears well in their eyes, and at the sight of the locust tree’s roots, homesickness swells within their hearts. The spirit of filial piety flows deep… ( jun ) From source to stream; the order of a hundred clans, harmonious and thriving together. A single tree, verdant and towering, has become the totem of migrants; from all corners, hearts remain ever drawn to the roots in Hongdong.
Thus we behold the present‑day Huaiyuan, radiant with renewed splendor. The grand ancestral rites, solemn and dignified, gather the homesickness of all corners of the world into a scroll of clouds; in-depth scholarly pursuits are carefully nurtured, passing the torch from one generation to the next, sowing the enduring chronicles of history among the young. The Hall of Wisdom unites wanderers across the globe; the digital platform shrinks the vastness of the world to a mere step away. ( only ) Frontier.
