A Sacred Offering on Qingming Day in the Year of Bingwu to the Ancestral Migrants of the Ancient Great Locust Tree
In the year of the reign 2026 year April 5 Day, year at Bingwu As the Qingming Festival approaches, we, the descendants of those who migrated from the Great Locust Tree, with hearts full of devotion, solemnly offer our rites to the ancient ancestors who once left that venerable tree. We present the grand sacrifice and perform the eight‑row dance; the locust‑tree lineage, filled with heartfelt reverence, respectfully extols the merits of our forebears and prays for the enduring peace and prosperity of China. The inscription reads:
The venerable ancient locust tree, the ancestral root of myriad surnames. Its illustrious achievements shine forth, revered throughout the nine realms. In the waning years of the Yuan dynasty, war-torn flames blazed across the land, and the Central Plains were thrown into turmoil; yet in the mountains and rivers of the Three Jin, the people lived in peace and prosperity. In the Hongwu era, an imperial edict summoned countless clans beneath the shade of the locust tree; through migration and reclamation, the seeds of civilization were sown in every corner of the empire. The mighty tide of migrants— History Traces that reveal the spirit of the nation; a bold pioneering spirit that uplifts the soul of China. Therefore The descendants of Kyūshū return to their ancestral roots year after year; when they gaze upon the Jieshi Stele, tears well in their eyes, and at the roots of the locust tree, a deep sense of hometown affection stirs within. The spirit of filial piety flows like a spring, nourishing and multiplying; the harmonious order of all clans fosters shared prosperity. A single ancient tree has become a totem for those who have migrated, while heartfelt ties from every corner of the world forever preserve the memory of Hongtong as their origin.
Thus we behold the present‑day Huaiyuan, radiant with renewed splendor. The grand ancestral rites, solemn and dignified, gather the homesickness of people from across the four seas into a tapestry of clouds; profound scholarly pursuits are carefully nurtured, knowledge is passed down from one generation to the next, and the true history of millennia is inscribed upon the robes of the young. The Hall of Wisdom unites wanderers from every corner of the globe; the digital platform shrinks the vastness of the world into a realm at our fingertips.
